Grado SR325e (2014) vs HiFiMan HE-560 (2014)

Analysis:

The Grado SR325e (2014) is a relatively good Open-Back Headphone for people that are willing to spend around $370. The HiFiMan HE-560 (2014), by contrast, is quite unremarkable and doesn't stand out in any meaningful way from other products at this price point.

In both cases, however, we recommend that you take look at some other options at the $370 and $1,000 budget ranges; in all likelihood you'll find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Grado SR325e (2014) and HiFiMan HE-560 (2014), however, we wrote a summary of what we know about them:

The Grado SR325e (2014) hasn't managed to earn a top spot in any roundups from sources that conduct trustworthy hands-on testing. Nevertheless, reviewers from sites, such as What Hi-Fi?, Head-fi, CNET, and Rtings all gave it a spot on their list.

Taking a look at the HiFiMan HE-560 (2014), it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - Head-fi and Audioholics - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Open-Back Headphones, including Head-fi, preferred the Grado SR325e (2014) over the HiFiMan HE-560 (2014).

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Grado SR325e (2014) was liked best by What Hi-Fi?, which gave it a score of 10, while the HiFiMan HE-560 (2014) got its highest, 8.8, score from Head-fi.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Open-Back Headphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Open-Back Headphones being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Grado SR325e (2014) and HiFiMan HE-560 (2014) managed averages of 8.1 and 8.8 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Grado SR325e (2014) vs. HiFiMan HE-560 (2014) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
