Analysis:

The HiFiMan Ananda (2018) was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best On-Ear/Over-Ear Headphones for 2023" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 9", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Taking a look at the Sony MDR-7506 (1991), we found that it was liked by some of the most highly trusted sources, such as CNET, Rtings, Wirecutter, and SoundGuys - it was named "Best older over-ear headphones" by CNET, "Best Mid-Range Podcast Headphones" by Rtings, and "Best wired headphones under $100" by Wirecutter.

We also performed a thorough HiFiMan Ananda (2018) vs. Sony MDR-7506 (1991) review score analysis - it turns out that all of the sources that have tested both Closed-Back Headphones, including Head-fi and Rtings, preferred the HiFiMan Ananda (2018) over the Sony MDR-7506 (1991).

Out of all the sources that reviewed them, the HiFiMan Ananda (2018) turned out to be most loved by PCmag, which gave it a score of 10, whereas the Sony MDR-7506 (1991) got its highest, 8.5, rating from reviewers at CNET.

Finally, we also compared their review scores to the rest of their competition - the HiFiMan Ananda (2018) earned an average review score of 8.8 out of 10 points and the Sony MDR-7506 (1991) received an average of 7.9, compared to the 7.4 average of Closed-Back Headphones in general.
