Oculus Go (2018) vs HTC Vive Pro (2018)

Analysis:

The Oculus Go (2018) and HTC Vive Pro (2018) make for very strong choices and are great VR Headsets for their respective $199 and $1199 asking prices. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, either of these options will serve you well.

The Oculus Go (2018) has done great in quite a few roundups from some of the most highly trusted sources available, such as Tom's Guide, PCmag, and TechGearLab, which perform high-quality in-depth testing. It got awarded the "A great standalone VR headset for the money" title by Tom's Guide, "Best for VR Newbies" by PCmag, and "Best Low-End Headset" by TechGearLab in their respective roundups. Earning that much praise from such respected sources is undoubtedly an impressive accomplishment.

As for our HTC Vive Pro (2018) analysis - two highly trusted sources that perform well-thought-out hands-on testing have found it to be a great product - it earned the "Best If Money is No Object" and "Ranked 3 out of 8" awards from TechGearLab and Wirecutter, respectively, which is quite an impressive feat.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these VR Headsets, Tom's Hardware, Expert Reviews, Techradar, PCmag, WIRED, and Digitaltrends preferred the Oculus Go (2018), whereas reviewers at TrustedReviews, Pocket-lint, and TechGearLab liked the HTC Vive Pro (2018) better. Lifewire and Tom's Guide gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Oculus Go (2018) rating came from Tom's Hardware, whereas the HTC Vive Pro (2018) most impressed reviewers at Tom's Hardware; they earned scores of 10 and 9, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other VR Headsets on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by VR Headsets being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Oculus Go (2018) and HTC Vive Pro (2018) managed averages of 8.2 and 7.9 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Oculus Go (2018) vs. HTC Vive Pro (2018) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
