Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) vs Huawei Mate 30 (2019)

Analysis:

The Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) is a great Smartphone for its $347 asking price.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro (2019), however, while a reasonable product for $699, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Smartphones in the $790 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) was loved by reviewers at Tom's Guide, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best New Features of the Galaxy S8" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 1", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Huawei Mate 30 Pro (2019): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like Notebookcheck.net, Android Authority, GSMArena, Expert Reviews, AVForums, Digital Camera World, Techradar, CNET, Tom's Guide, DXOMARK, Tech Advisor, and Android Central, enough for them to include them on those lists.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Smartphones, including Expert Reviews, GSMArena, AVForums, hardwarezone.com.sg, Techradar, Tom's Guide, Android Authority, and CNET, preferred the Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) over the Huawei Mate 30 Pro (2019).

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) was liked best by TrustedReviews, which gave it a score of 10, while the Huawei Mate 30 Pro (2019) got its highest, 8.9, score from Notebookcheck.net.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017), with its 9.1 average, performed considerably better than most Smartphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.5 out of 10 - while the Huawei Mate 30 Pro (2019) managed an average of 6.9.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) vs. Huawei Mate 30 Pro (2019) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
