Analysis:

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X is a great CPU for its $790 asking price.

The Intel Core i5-6600K, however, is merely passable at its $199 price point. If you're considering buying a CPU in the $220 range, you might want to check out some of its competitors.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best CPUs for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Value-Minded (But Power-Hungry) Enthusiasts, Media Pros", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Taking a look at the Intel Core i5-6600K, it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - Expert Reviews and PCmag - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.
