The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X is a great CPU for its $790 asking price.

The Intel Core i9-9900K, however, while a reasonable product for $379, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering CPUs in the $330 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best CPUs for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Value-Minded (But Power-Hungry) Enthusiasts, Media Pros", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Intel Core i9-9900K, PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best for Peak Frame Rates, Content Work on 300 Series (Socket LGA 1151)" in its "The Best CPUs for Gaming in 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. TechSpot and Techradar, for example, preferred the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X, while Tom's Hardware and PCmag rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X got reviewed the highest by TechSpot - it gave it a rating of 9.1, while the Intel Core i9-9900K most impressed reviewers at Tom's Hardware, which gave it a score of 9.
