Analysis:

The AMD Ryzen 5 2600X is a great CPU for its $199 asking price.

The Intel Core i9-9900K, however, while a reasonable product for $377, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering CPUs in the $470 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The AMD Ryzen 5 2600X hasn't managed to earn a top spot in any roundups from sources that conduct trustworthy hands-on testing. Nevertheless, reviewers from sites, such as Techradar, TechSpot, Tom's Hardware, and PCmag all gave it a spot on their list.

Returning to the Intel Core i9-9900K, PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best for Peak Frame Rates, Content Work on 300 Series (Socket LGA 1151)" in its "The Best CPUs for Gaming in 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these CPUs, Techradar and TechSpot preferred the AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, whereas reviewers at Tom's Hardware liked the Intel Core i9-9900K better. PCmag gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest AMD Ryzen 5 2600X rating came from Techradar, whereas the Intel Core i9-9900K most impressed reviewers at Tom's Hardware; they earned scores of 9 and 9, respectively.
