Western Digital Black SN750 SSD vs Intel SSD Series 5 (2012)

Analysis:

The Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB is one of the very best products at its price point and should be considered by anyone willing to spend around $65 on a Internal SSD.

The Intel SSD 520 240GB, on the other hand, is mediocre at its $599 asking price and should be avoided by the majority of people. If you're interested in some alternatives at its price, we suggest looking at some better options in the $720 range.

The Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB has managed to impress reviewers from some of the most highly trusted sources on the internet, including Tom's Hardware and PCmag. It performed great in their in-depth hands-on roundups - it was awarded the "Best Value Consumer Chia Mining SSD" title by Tom's Hardware and "A Solid PCIe 3.0 Alternative for Gamers, Media Editors" by PCmag in their respective Internal SSD roundups. That's high praise, especially when coming from such high-quality sources.

As for the Intel SSD 520 240GB, it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at TechSpot, hardwarezone.com.sg, Techradar, and Expert Reviews enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Internal SSDs, including Techradar and TechSpot, preferred the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB over the Intel SSD 520 240GB.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB was liked best by Techradar, which gave it a score of 10, while the Intel SSD 520 240GB got its highest, 8.5, score from TechSpot.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB and Intel SSD 520 240GB managed averages of 8.8 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB vs. Intel SSD 520 240GB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
