Intel Optane Series 905P (2018) vs Intel SSD Series 5 (2017)

The Intel Optane SSD 905P M.2 380GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best of Computex 2018" roundup where it was named its "9. Best Storage", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Taking a look at the Intel SSD 545s 2.5" 512GB, it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - PCWorld and PCmag - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Internal Hard Drives best and found that the Intel Optane SSD 905P M.2 380GB got its highest, 9, review score from reviewers at Tom's Hardware, whereas the Intel SSD 545s 2.5" 512GB earned its best score of 9 from PCWorld.
