Etymotic ER4 (2015) vs Jaybird Freedom F5 (2016)
The Etymotic ER4SR (2015) was loved by reviewers at SoundGuys, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best wired earbuds" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 2 out of 5", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
Moving on to the Jaybird Freedom F5 (2016): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like SoundGuys, Head-fi, CNET, Rtings, Techradar, and 9to5Google, enough for them to include them on those lists.
When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both In-Ear Monitors, including Head-fi and SoundGuys, preferred the Etymotic ER4SR (2015) over the Jaybird Freedom F5 (2016).
We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Etymotic ER4SR (2015) was liked best by Head-fi, which gave it a score of 10, while the Jaybird Freedom F5 (2016) got its highest, 8, score from SoundGuys.
Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Etymotic ER4SR (2015), with its 8.6 average, performed considerably better than most In-Ear Monitors - the mean score for the product category being 7.7 out of 10 - while the Jaybird Freedom F5 (2016) managed an average of 7.6.
There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Etymotic ER4SR (2015) vs. Jaybird Freedom F5 (2016) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
