Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) vs JBL E55BT (2016)

Analysis:

The Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) makes for an outstanding Over-Ear Headphone at $189. The JBL E55BT (2016), however, while overall a good product for its asking price, doesn't quite manage to stand out from its competition - there are better Over-Ear Headphones that can be found for around $60 available here.

Two highly trusted sources that perform well-thought-out in-depth testing consider the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) to be a great product - it earned the "Excellent noise cancellation for cheap" title from Tom's Guide and "Runner Up for Best Over-Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones Under $200 - Wired Alternative With Better Noise Isolation" from Rtings in their respective Over-Ear Headphone roundups, which is a good indication of it being a notable product.

Returning to the JBL E55BT (2016), SoundGuys, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Bang for your buck" in its "Best headphones at Target: Trust the red polo shirts" roundup, which is quite a feat.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Over-Ear Headphones, including What Hi-Fi?, PCmag, CNET, and Rtings, preferred the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) over the JBL E55BT (2016).

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) was liked best by Tom's Guide, which gave it a score of 10, while the JBL E55BT (2016) got its highest, 8.1, score from Headphone Review.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014), with its 8.7 average, performed considerably better than most Over-Ear Headphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.5 out of 10 - while the JBL E55BT (2016) managed an average of 7.4.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) vs. JBL E55BT (2016) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
