JBL Flip 5 vs Marshall Stockwell II
The JBL Flip 5 is a great Portable Bluetooth Speaker for its $119 asking price.
The Marshall Stockwell II, however, is merely passable at its $199 price point. If you're considering buying a Portable Bluetooth Speaker in the $160 range, you might want to check out some of its competitors.
The JBL Flip 5 has done great in quite a few roundups from some of the most highly trusted sources available, such as CNET, Rtings, and TechGearLab, which perform high-quality in-depth testing. It got awarded the "Best design" title by CNET, "Best Budget JBL Speaker" by Rtings, and "A Worthy, Waterproof, Bose Alternative" by TechGearLab in their respective roundups. Earning that much praise from such respected sources is undoubtedly an impressive accomplishment.
As for the Marshall Stockwell II, it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at PCmag, Reviewed, and Wirecutter (NYTimes) enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like Pocket-lint and PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.
Then we checked which sources liked these two Portable Bluetooth Speakers best and found that the JBL Flip 5 got its highest, 10, review score from reviewers at TechGearLab, whereas the Marshall Stockwell II earned its best score of 9.2 from Gadget Review.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Portable Bluetooth Speakers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Portable Bluetooth Speakers being 7.6 out of 10, whereas the JBL Flip 5 and Marshall Stockwell II managed averages of 8.4 and 8.4 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct JBL Flip 5 vs. Marshall Stockwell II comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
