Shure SE215 (2011) vs JLab Jbuds Air Executive

Analysis:

The Shure SE215 (2011) is a great Earphone for its $79 asking price.

The JLab Jbuds Air Executive, however, while a reasonable product for $57, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Earphones in the $35 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Shure SE215 (2011) has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely SoundGuys and Rtings. It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "Best Comfort" and "Runner Up for Best Wired Earbuds For Small Ears - Better-Built Alternative" awards from SoundGuys and Rtings, respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

Moving on to the JLab Jbuds Air Executive: it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like Techradar, Rtings, SoundGuys, Android Authority, PCmag, and Wirecutter (NYTimes), enough for them to include them on those lists.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. PCmag, for example, preferred the Shure SE215 (2011), while Techradar rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Shure SE215 (2011) got reviewed the highest by Expert Reviews - it gave it a rating of 10, while the JLab Jbuds Air Executive most impressed reviewers at Techradar, which gave it a score of 8.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Shure SE215 (2011), with its 8.7 average, performed considerably better than most Earphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.3 out of 10 - while the JLab Jbuds Air Executive managed an average of 7.0.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Shure SE215 (2011) vs. JLab Jbuds Air Executive review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
