Kingston KC2000 vs Crucial BX500 Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Kingston KC2000 250GB is one of the very best Internal SSDs that one can get for around $75. The Crucial SSD BX500 480GB, however, while a very good choice at its $45 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Kingston KC2000 250GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget Upgraders", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Crucial SSD BX500 480GB, PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best for SATA Budget Buyers" in its "The Best SSDs for Upgrading Your Laptop in 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Internal SSDs, including Tom's Hardware and PCmag, preferred the Kingston KC2000 250GB over the Crucial SSD BX500 480GB.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Kingston KC2000 250GB was liked best by PCWorld, which gave it a score of 9, while the Crucial SSD BX500 480GB got its highest, 8, score from Expert Reviews.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to their competition, we averaged out their review scores and found that the Kingston KC2000 250GB got received considerably better than the majority of other Internal SSDs - it earned an average of 8.3 out of 10 points, compared to the 7.8 overall rating of other Internal SSDs - while the Crucial SSD BX500 480GB performed worse than most of its competitors, with its average review score of 5.8.

It's worth keeping in mind, however, that a direct Kingston KC2000 250GB vs. Crucial SSD BX500 480GB comparison might not be realistic since they're priced differently and some sources have a tendency to review more expensive products better than cheaper ones.
