Crucial MX300 Series SSDs vs Kingston KC2000

Analysis:

The Kingston KC2000 250GB is a great Internal SSD for its $64 asking price.

The Crucial SSD MX300 2.5" 525GB, however, while a reasonable product for $299, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Internal SSDs in the $330 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Kingston KC2000 250GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Internal SSDs for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget Upgraders Looking for a PCIe/NVMe Drive", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Crucial SSD MX300 2.5" 525GB, Laptop Mag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best SSD Under $100" in its "Best Laptop SSDs - Internal & External Hard Drive Upgrades" roundup, which is quite a feat.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Internal SSDs best and found that the Kingston KC2000 250GB got its highest, 9, review score from reviewers at Tech Advisor, whereas the Crucial SSD MX300 2.5" 525GB earned its best score of 8.4 from TechSpot.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Kingston KC2000 250GB and Crucial SSD MX300 2.5" 525GB managed averages of 8.3 and 8.1 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Kingston KC2000 250GB vs. Crucial SSD MX300 2.5" 525GB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
