Kingston KC2000 vs Samsung 860 Pro Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Kingston KC2000 250GB is a great Internal SSD for its $66 asking price.

The Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB, however, while a reasonable product for $299, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Internal SSDs in the $290 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Kingston KC2000 250GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget Upgraders", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB: it has done really well in a number of roundups done by sources that perform objective and reliable testing, including Tom's Hardware, Windows Central, and Techradar - it won the "Best Prosumer SATA SSD" title from Tom's Hardware, "Our SSD pick" from Windows Central, and "The best SATA SSD is cheaper than you think" from Techradar. That points towards it being a cut above most of its competitors.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Internal SSDs, including PCWorld and PCmag, preferred the Kingston KC2000 250GB over the Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Kingston KC2000 250GB was liked best by PCWorld, which gave it a score of 9, while the Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB got its highest, 9, score from Techradar.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Kingston KC2000 250GB and Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB managed averages of 8.3 and 8.2 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Kingston KC2000 250GB vs. Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
