Leatherman Wave Multi-Tool vs Victorinox Classic SD 5-function Swiss Army Pocket Knife
The Victorinox Classic SD is an exemplary product and one of the very best Pocket Knives at the $17 budget.
The Leatherman Wave+ Multi-Tool, however, doesn't seem to have enough data available for us to be able to draw any meaningful conclusions. If you're considering Pocket Knives in the $30 range, you might want to check out some other options.
The Victorinox Classic SD was loved by reviewers at OutdoorGearLab, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The 6 Best Pocket Knives of 2023" roundup where it was named its "Great Value for a Keychain Knife", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
Returning to the Leatherman Wave+ Multi-Tool, it managed to impress reviewers from some of the internet's most highly trusted sources, OutdoorGearLab and Pocket Multi Tools. It performed great in their hands-on roundups - it was named "Best Bang for the Buck" by OutdoorGearLab and "Ranked 1 out of 4" by Pocket Multi Tools. That's quite an achievement, especially coming from such high-quality sources.
We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like OutdoorGearLab, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Leatherman Wave+ Multi-Tool.
Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Pocket Knives received. We found that the Victorinox Classic SD managed to earn a rating of 9 from OutdoorGearLab, whereas the Leatherman Wave+ Multi-Tool got its highest, 10, score from reviewers at OutdoorGearLab.
Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Victorinox Classic SD, with its 9.0 average, performed considerably better than most Pocket Knives - the mean score for the product category being 6.0 out of 10 - while the Leatherman Wave+ Multi-Tool managed an average of 10.0.
There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Victorinox Classic SD vs. Leatherman Wave+ Multi-Tool review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
