Leica Q Cameras (2019) vs Olympus OM-D E-M1 Cameras (2016)

Analysis:

The Leica Q2 (2019) makes for a good, if unremarkable, Mirrorless Camera for people with a $4,300 budget.

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (2016), however, is merely mediocre at its $949 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $4,300 and $760 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Leica Q2 (2019) and Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (2016), however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:

The Leica Q2 (2019) was loved by reviewers at Digital Camera World, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The best full-frame compact cameras in 2021: a short list, but a great one!" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 5", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (2016): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like Digital Camera World, Photography Blog, TrustedReviews, Digital Photography Review, hardwarezone.com.sg, PCmag, and The Verge, enough for them to include them on those lists.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Mirrorless Cameras, PCmag preferred the Leica Q2 (2019), whereas reviewers at Digital Photography Review liked the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (2016) better. TrustedReviews gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Leica Q2 (2019) rating came from PCmag, whereas the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (2016) most impressed reviewers at Digital Camera World; they earned scores of 9 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Leica Q2 (2019) and Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (2016) managed averages of 8.8 and 8.6 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Leica Q2 (2019) vs. Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (2016) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
