LG C1 OLED vs Samsung Q70T (2020)
The LG C1 OLED 48" is one of the very best TVs that one can get for around $1,000. The Samsung Q70T 55", however, while a very good choice at its $730 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.
The LG C1 OLED 48" has managed to impress reviewers from some of the most highly trusted sources on the internet, including Tom's Guide and Wirecutter. It performed great in their in-depth hands-on roundups - it was awarded the "Top Pick" title by Popular Mechanics and "A killer OLED and the best gaming TV you can get" by Tom's Guide in their respective TV roundups. That's high praise, especially when coming from such high-quality sources.
As for the Samsung Q70T 55", it was really well-received by reviewers at Tom's Guide, a reliable source that's known for conducting its own, high-quality, in-depth testing. It performed great in its "Best Samsung TVs in 2023" roundup and was named its "The best Samsung TV under $1,000", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.
When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both TVs, including Techradar, Tom's Guide, and Rtings, preferred the LG C1 OLED 48" over the Samsung Q70T 55".
We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The LG C1 OLED 48" was liked best by What Hi-Fi?, which gave it a score of 10, while the Samsung Q70T 55" got its highest, 9, score from Techradar.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other TVs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by TVs being 7.7 out of 10, whereas the LG C1 OLED 48" and Samsung Q70T 55" managed averages of 9.1 and 7.8 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct LG C1 OLED 48" vs. Samsung Q70T 55" comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
