Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) vs LG G6

Analysis:

The Samsung Galaxy S8+ (2017) is a great Smartphone for its $429 asking price.

The LG G6, however, is merely passable at its $188 price point. If you're considering buying a Smartphone in the $150 range, you might want to check out some of its competitors.

The Samsung Galaxy S8+ (2017) was highly praised by reviewers from numerous sources that perform their own objective hands-on testing, including Android Central, Reviewed, Techradar, GadgetMatch, and Android Authority. It did great in their roundups - it was dubbed "Top Pick" by Android Central, "Top Pick" by Reviewed, and "Best Samsung phone battery" by Techradar. That alone makes it at least worth considering.

Moving on to the LG G6: it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like GSMArena, Tech Advisor, Android Authority, PhoneArena, CNET, TechSpot, AVForums, What Hi-Fi?, Techradar, PCmag, TrustedReviews, slashgear.com, Expert Reviews, hardwarezone.com.sg, The Verge, Reviewed, and GadgetMatch, enough for them to include them on those lists.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Smartphones, TrustedReviews, What Hi-Fi?, Expert Reviews, Techradar, The Verge, PCmag, PhoneArena, T3, AVForums, KnowTechie, hardwarezone.com.sg, slashgear.com, TechSpot, and CNET preferred the Samsung Galaxy S8+ (2017), whereas reviewers at Digitaltrends liked the LG G6 better. Pocket-lint, GSMArena, and Tech Advisor gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Samsung Galaxy S8+ (2017) rating came from TrustedReviews, whereas the LG G6 most impressed reviewers at Pocket-lint; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Smartphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Smartphones being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S8+ (2017) and LG G6 managed averages of 9.0 and 8.2 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Samsung Galaxy S8+ (2017) vs. LG G6 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
