Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018) vs LG G6

Analysis:

The Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018) is a relatively good Smartphone for people that are willing to spend around $510. The LG G6, by contrast, is quite unremarkable and doesn't stand out in any meaningful way from other products at this price point.

In both cases, however, we recommend that you take look at some other options at the $510 and $130 budget ranges; in all likelihood you'll find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018) and LG G6, however, we wrote a summary of what we know about them:

The Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018) has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely Tom's Guide and SoundGuys. It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "A great small flagship now on the cheap" and "Ranked 1 out of 2" awards from Tom's Guide and SoundGuys, respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

As for the LG G6 - it impressed reviewers at Android Central, a trustworthy source that conducts solid hands-on testing. It did great in its "Best T-Mobile Prepaid Phones" roundup - in fact, it earned its "Best for less" title, which, on its own, indicates a certain level of quality.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Smartphones, What Hi-Fi?, T3, slashgear.com, PhoneArena, AVForums, and TechSpot preferred the Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018), whereas reviewers at Pocket-lint, Digitaltrends, and CNET liked the LG G6 better. GSMArena, PCmag, Techradar, Expert Reviews, and TrustedReviews gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018) rating came from What Hi-Fi?, whereas the LG G6 most impressed reviewers at Pocket-lint; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Smartphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Smartphones being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018) and LG G6 managed averages of 8.7 and 8.2 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Samsung Galaxy S9 (2018) vs. LG G6 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
