Marshall Mode (2015) vs AfterShokz Trekz (2017)

Analysis:

The Marshall Mode (2015) is a great Earphone for its $49 asking price.

The AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017), however, while a reasonable product for $119, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Earphones in the $80 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Marshall Mode (2015) was loved by reviewers at Wirecutter (NYTimes), a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Headphones Under $100" roundup where it was named its "Best wired earbuds under $100", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017), it managed to impress reviewers from some of the internet's most highly trusted sources, TechGearLab and SoundGuys. It performed great in their hands-on roundups - it was named "Best for Unencumbered Hearing" by TechGearLab and "Ranked 2 out of 5" by SoundGuys. That's quite an achievement, especially coming from such high-quality sources.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Earphones, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Marshall Mode (2015) got its highest, 9, rating from Head-fi, while the AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) earned its best, 9, score from Android Central.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Marshall Mode (2015), with its 8.4 average, performed considerably better than most Earphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.3 out of 10 - while the AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) managed an average of 7.1.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Marshall Mode (2015) vs. AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
