The Audio-Technica ATH-M20x (2014) was loved by reviewers at Rtings, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The 6 Best Closed-Back Headphones - Winter 2023" roundup where it was named its "Best Budget Closed-Back Headphones", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
As for the Monoprice Monolith M565 - SoundGuys, a source that conducts reliable hands-on testing, has featured it in its Monoprice Monolith M565 review roundup. However, it didn't make it to any of the top spots.
As for a direct Audio-Technica ATH-M20x (2014) vs. Monoprice Monolith M565 comparison of their review performance, we examined sources that tested and rated both products, like SoundGuys. It turns out that all such sources consider the Monoprice Monolith M565 to be the superior product.
