Nikon Z 6 Cameras (2018) vs Sony α7R Mirrorless Cameras (2017)

Analysis:

The Nikon Z 6 (2018) managed to impress reviewers from two reliable and unbiased sources that conduct their own hands-on testing, namely shotkit.com and Gear Patrol. It performed great in their roundups - it earned the "BEST BUDGET FULL FRAME" title from shotkit.com and "Ranked 2 out of 2" from Gear Patrol, which makes it a product worthy of consideration.

As for the Sony α7R III (2017), it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a reliable source that's known for conducting its own, high-quality, in-depth testing. It performed great in its "Can't Buy the New Camera You Want? Here's How to Find One You'll Love - Sony a1 Alternatives" roundup and was named its "Ranked 2 out of 2", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Mirrorless Cameras, Digital Camera World and shotkit.com preferred the Nikon Z 6 (2018), whereas reviewers at DXOMARK, Digital Photography Review, and PCmag liked the Sony α7R III (2017) better. Photography Blog, camerajabber.com, Techradar, and T3 gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Nikon Z 6 (2018) rating came from Digital Camera World, whereas the Sony α7R III (2017) most impressed reviewers at Photography Blog; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Nikon Z 6 (2018) and Sony α7R III (2017) managed averages of 9.5 and 9.4 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Nikon Z 6 (2018) vs. Sony α7R III (2017) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
