Olympus OM-D E-M10 Cameras (2017) vs Panasonic Lumix S series Cameras (2019)

Analysis:

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III (2017) and Panasonic Lumix DC-S1 (2019) are both excellent choices at their respective budgets. The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III (2017) is among the very best Mirrorless Cameras for $449 and the Panasonic Lumix DC-S1 (2019) is exemplary at $1997. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, you can't go wrong with either option.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III (2017) was loved by reviewers at Wirecutter (NYTimes), a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Mirrorless Camera" roundup where it was named its "Top Pick", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Panasonic Lumix DC-S1 (2019): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like DXOMARK, Digital Photography Review, Techradar, The Verge, PCmag, and Digital Camera World, enough for them to include them on those lists.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III (2017) and Panasonic Lumix DC-S1 (2019) managed averages of 8.3 and 8.4 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III (2017) vs. Panasonic Lumix DC-S1 (2019) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
