Apple iPhone XS/XS Max (2018) vs OnePlus 7 (2019)

Analysis:

The Apple iPhone XS has done great in quite a few roundups from some of the most highly trusted sources available, such as AVForums, PCmag, bicycling.com, and CNET, which perform high-quality in-depth testing. It got awarded the "Best Smartphone Over 6 Inches 2018" title by AVForums, "Ranked 1 out of 10" by PCmag, and "Ranked 2 out of 10" by bicycling.com in their respective roundups. Earning that much praise from such respected sources is undoubtedly an impressive accomplishment.

Taking a look at the OnePlus 7T Pro (2019), we found that it was received really well by reviewers from highly trusted sources that conduct objective in-depth testing, including Tom's Guide, PCmag, and CNET - it was named "Ranked 2 out of 10" by Tom's Guide, "Ranked 2 out of 7" by PCmag, and "Ranked 3 out of 4" by CNET in their respective roundups. Any product that's praised by this many of the internet's most trustworthy sources should be considered by everyone who's in the market for a Smartphone at this price point.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Smartphones, camerajabber.com preferred the Apple iPhone XS, whereas reviewers at techadvisor.com, TrustedReviews, slashgear.com, Android Authority, and DXOMARK liked the OnePlus 7T Pro (2019) better. What Hi-Fi?, T3, Lifewire, PhoneArena, Tom's Guide, Photography Blog, Digital Camera World, Techradar, PCmag, CNET, hardwarezone.com.sg, Expert Reviews, and The Telegraph gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Apple iPhone XS rating came from What Hi-Fi?, whereas the OnePlus 7T Pro (2019) most impressed reviewers at What Hi-Fi?; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Smartphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Smartphones being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Apple iPhone XS and OnePlus 7T Pro (2019) managed averages of 8.6 and 8.6 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Apple iPhone XS vs. OnePlus 7T Pro (2019) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
