Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean (2017) vs Oral-B Pro (2013)

Analysis:

The Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 (2017) makes for an outstanding Electric Toothbrush at $49. The Oral-B Pro 6000 (2013), however, while overall a good product for its asking price, doesn't quite manage to stand out from its competition - there are better Electric Toothbrushes that can be found for around $100 available here.

Two highly trusted sources that perform well-thought-out in-depth testing consider the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 (2017) to be a great product - it earned the "Top Pick" title from TechGearLab and "Runner Up" from Wirecutter (NYTimes) in their respective Electric Toothbrush roundups, which is a good indication of it being a notable product.

Taking a look at the Oral-B Pro 6000 (2013), it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - Electric Teeth and Reviewed - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Electric Toothbrushes, including Electric Teeth, preferred the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 (2017) over the Oral-B Pro 6000 (2013).

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 (2017) was liked best by Electric Teeth, which gave it a score of 10, while the Oral-B Pro 6000 (2013) got its highest, 8, score from Pocket-lint.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Electric Toothbrushes on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Electric Toothbrushes being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 (2017) and Oral-B Pro 6000 (2013) managed averages of 8.6 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 (2017) vs. Oral-B Pro 6000 (2013) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
