Razer BlackWidow V2 (2017) vs HyperX Alloy Elite (2017)

Analysis:

The Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 is an example of a great Gaming Keyboard at its $230 budget.

In the case of the HyperX Alloy Elite (2017), however, we weren't able to find enough data to come to any reliable conclusions.

While the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 wasn't able to make it to the very top of any roundups from sources that perform quality hands-on testing, it still got featured in a large number of them. slashgear.com, Windows Central, PCmag, TrustedReviews, PCWorld, Techradar, CNET, Reviewed, and Wirecutter (NYTimes) have all deemed it worthy of a place on their respective shortlists.

As for the HyperX Alloy Elite (2017) - it impressed reviewers at PC Gamer, a trustworthy source that conducts solid hands-on testing. It did great in its "The best keyboard for Fortnite in 2020" roundup - in fact, it earned its "A great keyboard, but not the newest" title, which, on its own, indicates a certain level of quality.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. PCmag, for example, preferred the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2, while Techradar rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 got reviewed the highest by slashgear.com - it gave it a rating of 9, while the HyperX Alloy Elite (2017) most impressed reviewers at Expert Reviews, which gave it a score of 10.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Gaming Keyboards on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Gaming Keyboards being 7.3 out of 10, whereas the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 and HyperX Alloy Elite (2017) managed averages of 8.2 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 vs. HyperX Alloy Elite (2017) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
