Razer Kraken X vs HyperX Cloud Mix (2018)

The Razer Kraken X is a great Gaming Headset for its $39 asking price.

The HyperX Cloud Mix (HX-HSCAM-GM), however, is merely passable at its $152 price point. If you're considering buying a Gaming Headset in the $170 range, you might want to check out some of its competitors.

The Razer Kraken X was highly praised by reviewers from numerous sources that perform their own objective hands-on testing, including Android Central, PC Gamer, SoundGuys, Tom's Guide, and Digital Camera World. It did great in their roundups - it was dubbed "Best budget option" by Android Central, "The best cheap gaming headset with 7.1 surround sound." by PC Gamer, and "Best Gaming" by SoundGuys. That alone makes it at least worth considering.

Moving on to the HyperX Cloud Mix (HX-HSCAM-GM): it was loved by reviewers at Expert Reviews and Android Central - two reliable sources that conduct objective in-depth testing. In fact, it was their "The best dual-purpose headset" and "Best for Gaming", respectively, pointing towards it being a Gaming Headset worth considering.

We analyzed all of the review data that we could find on these two Gaming Headsets. First, we examined sources that tested and scored both of these products - PC Gamer, SoundGuys, and Rtings favored the HyperX Cloud Mix (HX-HSCAM-GM) over the Razer Kraken X, whereas reviewers at PCWorld haven't shown a preference for either.
