RHA MA390 (2018) vs AfterShokz Trekz (2017)

Analysis:

The RHA MA390 (2018) makes for an outstanding Earphone at $29. The AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017), however, while overall a good product for its asking price, doesn't quite manage to stand out from its competition - there are better Earphones that can be found for around $100 available here.

The RHA MA390 (2018) has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely SoundGuys and PCmag. It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "Best All Around" and "Best for Budget-Minded Audiophiles" awards from SoundGuys and PCmag, respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

Returning to the AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) - it was really well-received by reviewers at TechGearLab and SoundGuys, which are among the most highly trusted sources on the internet and are known for their in-depth hands-on testing. It was named "Best for Unencumbered Hearing" by TechGearLab and "Ranked 2 out of 5" by SoundGuys, which points toward the AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) being a high-quality product.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like Techradar, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Earphones best and found that the RHA MA390 (2018) got its highest, 9, review score from reviewers at PCmag, whereas the AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) earned its best score of 9 from Android Central.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the RHA MA390 (2018), with its 8.5 average, performed considerably better than most Earphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.3 out of 10 - while the AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) managed an average of 7.1.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct RHA MA390 (2018) vs. AfterShokz Trekz Air (2017) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
