It did great in their roundups - it earned the "Best Dirt Detection" title from Android Central, and "Ranked 1 out of 2" from Smart Robot Reviews, which marks it as a product that's worth considering.

Returning to the Roborock S5, TechGearLab, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best Navigational Abilities" in its "Best Robot Vacuum of 2021" roundup, which is quite a feat.

For a direct iRobot Roomba 980 vs. Roborock S5 comparison, we took a look at sources that tested both and found that the iRobot Roomba 980 got reviewed better by Gadget Review, Modern Castle, Techradar, and Tom's Guide, whereas the reviewers at Pocket-lint and The Ambient preferred the Roborock S5. Reviewers at TechGearLab and PCmag haven't shown a preference for either.
