The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (2018) has managed to impress reviewers from some of the most highly trusted sources on the internet, including Consumer Reports and Tom's Guide. It performed great in their in-depth hands-on roundups - it was awarded the "Best-value 4K Fire TV stick" title by Expert Reviews and "Amazon's excellent streaming stick is amazing value." by What Hi-Fi? in their respective Media Streaming Device roundups. That's high praise, especially when coming from such high-quality sources.
Moving on to the Roku Premiere 7th Gen (2018) (3920): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like MakeUseOf, Android Authority, Expert Reviews, TrustedReviews, CNET, PCmag, Tom's Guide, What Hi-Fi?, and Gear Patrol, enough for them to include them on those lists.
To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. Lifewire, What Hi-Fi?, PCmag, and Tom's Guide, for example, preferred the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (2018), while Expert Reviews and CNET rated both of them the same.
We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (2018) got reviewed the highest by T3 - it gave it a rating of 10, while the Roku Premiere 7th Gen (2018) (3920) most impressed reviewers at Android Authority, which gave it a score of 8.
Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (2018), with its 8.2 average, performed considerably better than most Media Streaming Devices - the mean score for the product category being 7.5 out of 10 - while the Roku Premiere 7th Gen (2018) (3920) managed an average of 7.2.
There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (2018) vs. Roku Premiere 7th Gen (2018) (3920) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
