Moto G7 (2019) vs Samsung Galaxy Note8 (2017)

Analysis:

The Moto G7 Power (2019) is a great Smartphone for its $249 asking price.

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 (2017), however, while a reasonable product for $334, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Smartphones in the $280 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Moto G7 Power (2019) has done remarkably well in a large number of roundups done by reliable sources that perform their own hands-on testing, such as PCmag, CNET, Android Central, Notebookcheck.net, Tech Advisor, The Verge, and Techradar. It earned numerous awards - "Best for Long Battery Life" from PCmag, "Best battery for your buck" from CNET, and "The best battery life on a phone for TracFone." from Android Central.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note8 (2017) - it was really well-received by reviewers at Tom's Guide, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The 11 Best Verizon Phones, Ranked Top to Bottom" roundup and was named its "Ranked 3 out of 11", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Smartphones, Pocket-lint and Expert Reviews preferred the Moto G7 Power (2019), whereas reviewers at GSMArena, Tom's Guide, PCmag, CNET, TechSpot, and The Verge liked the Samsung Galaxy Note8 (2017) better. TrustedReviews, Techradar, Digitaltrends, and Android Central gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Moto G7 Power (2019) rating came from Pocket-lint, whereas the Samsung Galaxy Note8 (2017) most impressed reviewers at PCWorld; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Smartphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Smartphones being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Moto G7 Power (2019) and Samsung Galaxy Note8 (2017) managed averages of 8.0 and 8.4 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Moto G7 Power (2019) vs. Samsung Galaxy Note8 (2017) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
