The Microsoft Surface Go 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD (2018) is a great Tablet for its $516 asking price.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 (2017), however, is merely passable at its $391 price point. If you're considering buying a Tablet in the $300 range, you might want to check out some of its competitors.
The Microsoft Surface Go 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD (2018) was loved by reviewers at Laptop Mag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best touchscreen laptops in 2021" roundup where it was named its "The best budget touch screen laptop", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
Moving on to the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 (2017): it was loved by reviewers at Android Central and Expert Reviews - two reliable sources that conduct objective in-depth testing. In fact, it was their "Top Pick" and "The best rugged tablet", respectively, pointing towards it being a Tablet worth considering.
To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. Tech Advisor, for example, preferred the Microsoft Surface Go 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD (2018), while Expert Reviews and PCmag rated both of them the same.
We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Microsoft Surface Go 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD (2018) got reviewed the highest by Techradar - it gave it a rating of 9, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 (2017) most impressed reviewers at Expert Reviews, which gave it a score of 8.
Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Microsoft Surface Go 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD (2018), with its 7.7 average, performed considerably better than most Tablets - the mean score for the product category being 7.5 out of 10 - while the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 (2017) managed an average of 7.3.
There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Microsoft Surface Go 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD (2018) vs. Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 (2017) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
