HTC Vive Pro (2018) vs Samsung Gear VR
The HTC Vive Pro (2018) makes for a good, if unremarkable, VR Headset for people with a $1,500 budget.
The Samsung Gear VR, however, is merely mediocre at its $19 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.
In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $1,500 and $17 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.
If you're still interested in learning more about the HTC Vive Pro (2018) and Samsung Gear VR, however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:
The HTC Vive Pro (2018) has done really well in a number of roundups conducted by sources that perform their own hands-on testing, such as Techradar, iMore, and PCWorld - it was awarded the "Ranked 1 out of 7" title by Techradar, "Ranked 2 out of 2" by iMore, and "Ranked 2 out of 6" by PCWorld. That's high praise from reliable sources.
Moving on to the Samsung Gear VR: no sources that perform reliable and objective hands-on testing have included it in their VR Headset roundups, which usually means that a product doesn't make for a good purchase.
