Adata SE730H Series External SSDs vs Samsung T7 Touch series SSDs (2019)

Analysis:

The Adata SE730H 512GB is one of the very best Portable SSDs that one can get for around $130. The Samsung T7 Touch 1TB, however, while a very good choice at its $210 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Adata SE730H 512GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Rugged Hard Drives and SSDs for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Value Seekers, On-the-Go Multimedia Editing", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Samsung T7 Touch 1TB - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best External SSDs for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Security-Conscious Frequent Travelers", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

We analyzed all of the review data that we could find on these two Portable SSDs. First, we examined sources that tested and scored both of these products - Techradar favored the Samsung T7 Touch 1TB over the Adata SE730H 512GB, whereas reviewers at PCmag haven't shown a preference for either.

Then we took a look at which sources liked them the most - we found that the Adata SE730H 512GB was best received by PCmag - it gave it a score of 8, whereas the Samsung T7 Touch 1TB got its highest score of 10 from reviewers at Techradar.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Portable SSDs on the market. Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Adata SE730H 512GB vs. Samsung T7 Touch 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
