beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro vs Sennheiser HD 25

Analysis:

The beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro and Sennheiser HD 25 make for very strong choices and are great Closed-Back Headphones for their respective $64 and $149 asking prices. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, either of these options will serve you well.

The beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Studio Headphones for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget-Minded Audiophiles", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Sennheiser HD 25, SoundGuys, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best all-around" in its "Best DJ headphones" roundup, which is quite a feat.

We analyzed all of the review data that we could find on these two Closed-Back Headphones. First, we examined sources that tested and scored both of these products - Head-fi favored the Sennheiser HD 25 over the beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro, whereas reviewers at PCmag haven't shown a preference for either.

Then we took a look at which sources liked them the most - we found that the beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro was best received by Headfonics - it gave it a score of 8.4, whereas the Sennheiser HD 25 got its highest score of 8.7 from reviewers at Head-fi.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Closed-Back Headphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Closed-Back Headphones being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro and Sennheiser HD 25 managed averages of 7.8 and 7.6 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro vs. Sennheiser HD 25 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
