Shure SE112 (2014) vs AfterShokz Trekz (2015)

Analysis:

The Shure SE112 (2014) makes for a good, if unremarkable, Earphone for people with a $45 budget.

The AfterShokz Trekz Titanium AS600 (2015), however, is merely mediocre at its $79 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $45 and $90 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Shure SE112 (2014) and AfterShokz Trekz Titanium AS600 (2015), however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:

The Shure SE112 (2014) was loved by reviewers at SoundGuys, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best earbuds under $50 of 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best Sound", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium AS600 (2015), SoundGuys, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Ranked 3 out of 5" in its "Best bone conduction headphones" roundup, which is quite a feat.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. Digitaltrends, for example, preferred the Shure SE112 (2014), while Techradar and TrustedReviews rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Shure SE112 (2014) got reviewed the highest by AVForums - it gave it a rating of 9, while the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium AS600 (2015) most impressed reviewers at Runnerclick, which gave it a score of 8.8.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Shure SE112 (2014), with its 7.8 average, performed considerably better than most Earphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.3 out of 10 - while the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium AS600 (2015) managed an average of 7.2.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Shure SE112 (2014) vs. AfterShokz Trekz Titanium AS600 (2015) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
