Shure SE112 (2014) vs Klipsch Reference x6i

Analysis:

The Shure SE112 (2014) is a great Earphone for its $49 asking price.

The Klipsch Reference x6i, however, while a reasonable product for $169, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Earphones in the $160 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Shure SE112 (2014) was loved by reviewers at SoundGuys, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best earbuds under $50 of 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best Sound", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Klipsch Reference x6i, it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Techradar, PCmag, and Wirecutter (NYTimes) enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like Techradar, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Klipsch Reference x6i.

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Earphones received. We found that the Shure SE112 (2014) managed to earn a rating of 9 from AVForums, whereas the Klipsch Reference x6i got its highest, 9, score from reviewers at Techradar.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Earphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Earphones being 7.3 out of 10, whereas the Shure SE112 (2014) and Klipsch Reference x6i managed averages of 7.8 and 8.5 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Shure SE112 (2014) vs. Klipsch Reference x6i comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
