Shure SE112 (2014) vs TONEKING T88K

Analysis:

The Shure SE112 (2014) makes for a good, if unremarkable, Canal Earphone for people with a $45 budget.

The TONEKING T88K, however, is merely mediocre at its $399 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $45 and $330 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Shure SE112 (2014) and TONEKING T88K, however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:

The Shure SE112 (2014) was loved by reviewers at SoundGuys, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best earbuds under $50 of 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best Sound", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the TONEKING T88K - Head-fi, a source that conducts reliable hands-on testing, has featured it in its TONEKING T88K review roundup. However, it didn't make it to any of the top spots.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like Head-fi, and learned that they all showed a preference for the TONEKING T88K.

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Canal Earphones received. We found that the Shure SE112 (2014) managed to earn a rating of 9 from AVForums, whereas the TONEKING T88K got its highest, 10, score from reviewers at Head-fi.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Shure SE112 (2014), with its 7.8 average, performed considerably better than most Canal Earphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.4 out of 10 - while the TONEKING T88K managed an average of 10.0.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Shure SE112 (2014) vs. TONEKING T88K review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
