Samsung 860 EVO Series SSDs vs Silicon Power P34A80 Internal SSD

Analysis:

The Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 500GB is one of the very best Internal SSDs that one can get for around $70. The Silicon Power P34A80 1TB, however, while a very good choice at its $100 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 500GB impressed reviewers from a large number of trusted sources that conduct reliable hands-on testing, including Reviewed, Windows Central, Tom's Hardware, Expert Reviews, and Android Central. It performed great in their respective roundups - it was named "Top Pick" by Reviewed, "Top Pick" by Windows Central, and "Best Consumer SATA SSD" by Tom's Hardware. Earning that much praise from such reliable sources is a good sign that the product is worth the money.

As for the Silicon Power P34A80 1TB - it impressed reviewers at Tom's Hardware, a trustworthy source that conducts solid hands-on testing. It did great in its "Best SSDs 2020: From Budget SATA to Blazing-Fast NVMe" roundup - in fact, it earned its "Best 1TB (or Larger) Value M.2 SSD" title, which, on its own, indicates a certain level of quality.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Internal SSDs, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 500GB got its highest, 10, rating from Expert Reviews, while the Silicon Power P34A80 1TB earned its best, 8, score from Tom's Hardware.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 500GB and Silicon Power P34A80 1TB managed averages of 8.8 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 500GB vs. Silicon Power P34A80 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
