Skullcandy Riff Wireless vs Grado SR80e (2014)

Analysis:

The Skullcandy Riff Wireless and Grado SR80e (2014) make for very strong choices and are great On-Ear Headphones for their respective $39 and $99 asking prices. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, either of these options will serve you well.

The Skullcandy Riff Wireless was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best On-Ear/Over-Ear Headphones for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget-Minded Bass Fans", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Grado SR80e (2014) - it was really well-received by reviewers at SoundGuys, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "Best stocking stuffers for audio enthusiasts" roundup and was named its "Best open-back", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these On-Ear Headphones, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Skullcandy Riff Wireless got its highest, 8, rating from Android Central, while the Grado SR80e (2014) earned its best, 10, score from Expert Reviews.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other On-Ear Headphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by On-Ear Headphones being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the Skullcandy Riff Wireless and Grado SR80e (2014) managed averages of 7.5 and 8.6 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Skullcandy Riff Wireless vs. Grado SR80e (2014) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
