Olympus OM-D E-M10 Cameras (2015) vs Sony α6x00 (Advanced APS-C) Mirrorless Cameras (2019)

Analysis:

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II (2015) is one of the very best Mirrorless Cameras that one can get for around $370. The Sony α6600 (2019), however, while a very good choice at its $1,400 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II (2015) was loved by reviewers at The Verge, a trustworthy source that performs objective hands-on testing. It did great in their "The best mirrorless camera you can buy for $1,000" roundup - in fact, they named it their "Ranked 2 out of 8". That, by itself, points toward it being a noteworthy Mirrorless Camera.

Moving on to the Sony α6600 (2019): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like DXOMARK, Techradar, PCmag, Tom's Guide, Android Authority, and TrustedReviews, enough for them to include them on those lists.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Mirrorless Cameras, Digital Camera World and Techradar preferred the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II (2015), whereas reviewers at DXOMARK liked the Sony α6600 (2019) better. PCmag gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II (2015) rating came from Photography Blog, whereas the Sony α6600 (2019) most impressed reviewers at Pocket-lint; they earned scores of 10 and 9, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II (2015) and Sony α6600 (2019) managed averages of 8.6 and 8.2 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II (2015) vs. Sony α6600 (2019) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
