Sony α7 Mirrorless Cameras (2014) vs Fujifilm GFX Cameras (2017)

Analysis:

The Sony α7 II (2014) has done great in quite a few roundups from some of the most highly trusted sources available, such as Tom's Guide, CNET, PCmag, and Digital Camera World, which perform high-quality in-depth testing. It got awarded the "Best Pro Mirrorless Camera" title by Tom's Guide, "Best camera for the aspirant" by CNET, and "Best for Future Pros" by PCmag in their respective roundups. Earning that much praise from such respected sources is undoubtedly an impressive accomplishment.

As for the Fujifilm GFX 50S (2017), it was really well-received by reviewers at Digital Photography Review, a reliable source that's known for conducting its own, high-quality, in-depth testing. It performed great in its "Best cameras for landscapes in 2020" roundup and was named its "Ranked 3 out of 10", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Mirrorless Cameras, Photography Blog, PCmag, and Digitaltrends preferred the Sony α7 II (2014), whereas reviewers at Digital Camera World and Digital Photography Review liked the Fujifilm GFX 50S (2017) better. Techradar and TrustedReviews gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Sony α7 II (2014) rating came from Photography Blog, whereas the Fujifilm GFX 50S (2017) most impressed reviewers at camerajabber.com; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Sony α7 II (2014) and Fujifilm GFX 50S (2017) managed averages of 8.6 and 8.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Sony α7 II (2014) vs. Fujifilm GFX 50S (2017) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
