Analysis:

The Sony α7 II (2014) is widely considered to be a great Mirrorless Camera at its $1,300 budget. The Fujifilm X-T2 (2016), however, while also a good product at this price point, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well.

The Sony α7 II (2014) was loved by reviewers at Tom's Guide, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best mirrorless cameras in 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best Pro Mirrorless Camera", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Fujifilm X-T2 (2016): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like The Phoblographer, Photography Blog, Expert Reviews, Techradar, camerajabber.com, PCmag, and TrustedReviews, enough for them to include them on those lists.

For a direct Sony α7 II (2014) vs. the Fujifilm X-T2 (2016) comparison, we first examined sources that tested and scored both. Most of them, including The Phoblographer, Pocket-lint, and Techradar, have found the Fujifilm X-T2 (2016) to be the better product, while Photography Blog, TrustedReviews, PCmag, and Digitaltrends rated both equally.
