Sony FDR Action Cameras (2016) vs Insta360 Go (2019)
The Sony FDR-X3000 is a relatively good Action Camera for people that are willing to spend around $430. The Insta360 Go (2019), by contrast, is quite unremarkable and doesn't stand out in any meaningful way from other products at this price point.
In both cases, however, we recommend that you take look at some other options at the $430 and $180 budget ranges; in all likelihood you'll find some better alternatives.
If you're still interested in learning more about the Sony FDR-X3000 and Insta360 Go (2019), however, we wrote a summary of what we know about them:
The Sony FDR-X3000 was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Action Cameras and Camcorders for 2021" roundup where it was named its "Best for Optical Video Stabilization", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
As for the Insta360 Go (2019), it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Digital Camera World, Expert Reviews, and Tom's Guide enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Action Cameras, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.
We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Sony FDR-X3000 got its highest, 9.2, rating from Gadget Review, while the Insta360 Go (2019) earned its best, 8, score from Digital Camera World.
Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Sony FDR-X3000, with its 7.9 average, performed considerably better than most Action Cameras - the mean score for the product category being 7.4 out of 10 - while the Insta360 Go (2019) managed an average of 6.5.
There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Sony FDR-X3000 vs. Insta360 Go (2019) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
