Steelseries Rival 3 (2020) vs Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016)

Analysis:

The Steelseries Rival 3 (2020) is one of the very best Gaming Mice that one can get for around $35. The Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016), however, while a very good choice at its $70 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Steelseries Rival 3 (2020) was loved by reviewers at Rtings, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The 7 Best Gaming Mice - Spring 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best Budget Gaming Mouse", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Taking a look at the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016), we found that it got praised by Laptop Mag and Tom's Guide - two sources that are known for their high-quality in-depth testing. The Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016) was named "Ranked 1 out of 7" by Laptop Mag and "Ranked 1 out of 6" by Tom's Guide in their respective Gaming Mouse roundups; that suggests that it's a product that's worth considering.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like PCmag, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016).

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Gaming Mice received. We found that the Steelseries Rival 3 (2020) managed to earn a rating of 9 from Tom's Hardware, whereas the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016) got its highest, 8, score from reviewers at PCmag.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Gaming Mice on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Gaming Mice being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Steelseries Rival 3 (2020) and Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016) managed averages of 7.7 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Steelseries Rival 3 (2020) vs. Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum (2016) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
