Topeak Mini Multi-Tools (2006) vs Topeak Mini Pro Multi-Tools (2010)

Analysis:

The Topeak Mini 9 Multi-Tool (2006) is an exemplary product and one of the very best Bicycle Pocket Multi-Tools at the $16 budget.

The Topeak Mini 20 Pro Multi-Tool (2010), however, doesn't seem to have enough data available for us to be able to draw any meaningful conclusions.

The Topeak Mini 9 Multi-Tool (2006) has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely Wirecutter and Wirecutter (NYTimes). It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "Top Pick" and "Top Pick" awards from Wirecutter and Wirecutter (NYTimes), respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

As for the Topeak Mini 20 Pro Multi-Tool (2010) - it was really well-received by reviewers at OutdoorGearLab, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best Bike Multi-Tools" roundup and was named its "Top Pick", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Bicycle Pocket Multi-Tools, including BikeRadar, preferred the Topeak Mini 9 Multi-Tool (2006) over the Topeak Mini 20 Pro Multi-Tool (2010).

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Topeak Mini 9 Multi-Tool (2006) was liked best by BikeRadar, which gave it a score of 9, while the Topeak Mini 20 Pro Multi-Tool (2010) got its highest, 8.5, score from OutdoorGearLab.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Bicycle Pocket Multi-Tools on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Bicycle Pocket Multi-Tools being 6.8 out of 10, whereas the Topeak Mini 9 Multi-Tool (2006) and Topeak Mini 20 Pro Multi-Tool (2010) managed averages of 9.0 and 8.2 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Topeak Mini 9 Multi-Tool (2006) vs. Topeak Mini 20 Pro Multi-Tool (2010) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
