TP-LINK Archer C7 V2 AC1750 vs Linksys Velop (2018)

Analysis:

The TP-LINK Archer C7 V2 AC1750 and Linksys Velop Tri-Band (2018) make for very strong choices and are great Wi-Fi Routers for their respective $74 and $99 asking prices. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, either of these options will serve you well.

The TP-LINK Archer C7 V2 AC1750 was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best VPN Routers for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget Buyers", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Linksys Velop Tri-Band (2018): it has done really well in a number of roundups done by sources that perform objective and reliable testing, including Android Central, Expert Reviews, Good Housekeeping, and PCWorld - it won the "Best for Smart Homes" title from Android Central, "Most fully featured mesh router" from Expert Reviews, and "Runner Up for Runner-up mesh network" from Good Housekeeping. That points towards it being a cut above most of its competitors.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like PCmag, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Linksys Velop Tri-Band (2018).

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Wi-Fi Routers received. We found that the TP-LINK Archer C7 V2 AC1750 managed to earn a rating of 8 from PCmag, whereas the Linksys Velop Tri-Band (2018) got its highest, 9.3, score from reviewers at Technically Well.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Wi-Fi Routers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Wi-Fi Routers being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the TP-LINK Archer C7 V2 AC1750 and Linksys Velop Tri-Band (2018) managed averages of 8.0 and 7.8 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct TP-LINK Archer C7 V2 AC1750 vs. Linksys Velop Tri-Band (2018) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
