TP-Link RE450 AC1750 Plug-In (2015) vs Amped Wireless REC4MM (2016)
The TP-Link RE450 was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Wi-Fi Range Extenders for 2023" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 2 out of 6", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
As for the Amped Wireless REC4MM (2016) - PCmag, a source that conducts reliable hands-on testing, has featured it in its Amped Wireless High Power AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender With MU-MIMO (REC44M) Review roundup. However, it didn't make it to any of the top spots.
We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.
Then we checked which sources liked these two Wi-Fi Extenders best and found that the TP-Link RE450 got its highest, 9, review score from reviewers at Top Ten Reviews, whereas the Amped Wireless REC4MM (2016) earned its best score of 8 from PCmag.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Wi-Fi Extenders on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Wi-Fi Extenders being 7.1 out of 10, whereas the TP-Link RE450 and Amped Wireless REC4MM (2016) managed averages of 8.5 and 8.0 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct TP-Link RE450 vs. Amped Wireless REC4MM (2016) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
